I
made a list of five resources that can help in learning English as a second
language. Here is my list:
1)
EnglishTown
Description:
This is one of the best online resources for English non-native speakers adults
all around the world. It helps the users in 6 different areas, which are
business English, TOEFL preparation, TOEIC preparation, job search English,
travel English and general English.
The
amazing thing is that you can try their course for 1$, so I highly recommended
this website
2) English Placement Test by EnglishEnglish website.
This is a placement designed for English non-native speakers adults. The amazing thing is that this test is free, and that the student who is taking the test can se his level in English to have a better understanding about his or her English skills
The test should take around 45 minutes to complete.
3) List of ESL schools in the US gathered by Study in the USA website
For
internationals students who are planning to study English in the US, they need
to be familiar with the ESL schools and which one is better for you. This list is amazing. It has a map of all the
states, so that if you click on the state you want to go it gives the ESL
schools in that state. I recommend this website for every internationals
students
4)
Wikipedia
Wikipedia
is a really good resource for the internationals students to look for
information about the contraries that they want to go to learn English.
Wikipedia gives many details about countries’ religions, populations, climates,
currencies, attractions and many other things.
5) NaturalReader
NaturalReader
is website and a program that can be downloaded to give the user the ability to
type a text and have it read in natural voices. This website can be a good
recourse for English learners and teachers. It gives the user 12 different
voices from the American dialect,
and it also gives the user 7 different voices from Britain dialect. NaturalReader helps ESL students in learning how to
pronounce some of the words in English. Therefore, this is a good resource for
ESL teachers.
