Text-to-Speech & Editing

I think that using text-to-speech technic would really help the students to improve their literacy. I found that true when I experienced it myself. English is not my native language. So when I started to learn it, I had so many challenges especially in writing. In general, my speaking and listening skills were above my writing. One of the things that helped me to overcome my weakness in writing is is to have my texts read out loud to me. I did it sometimes by reading my text and by having the computer reading it. According to the writing center at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, "...reading out loud is one of the most powerful proofreading techniques around".

Now, I do not think that using texts and audios is only helpful in writing. I think that it is also useful in the whole educated process. In a conducted research by Johns Hopkins University and RFB&D in 2003, It has been found that, and I quote, “…Combining text & audio in course materials has increased learning effectiveness by 40%”.
