How something is written changes how it is read. In this activity you will first write a paragraph, then rewrite it to increase the reading ease.

1.     Write a content-based paragraph that you would use with your students.
2.     Copy the paragraph and then paste it to your page an additional four (4) times.
3.     Change paragraph #2 to a larger font (as appropriate to grade level).
4.     Change paragraph #3 to a cleaner font (san-serif based).
5.     Change paragraph #4 to increased spacing between the words.
6.     Run a readability analysis of paragraph #5
7.     Copy the results of the readability analysis (Alt-Print Screen) and paste the results below paragraph #5
8.     Use the Tools -> Language -> Thesaurus (or Shift F7) to change the text to make it simplified.
9.     Run a new readability analysis on the adjusted paragraph #5.
10.   Copy the results of the readability analysis (Alt-Print Screen) and paste the results below paragraph #5
